Visa services

Visa authorizes a foreign national to enter and stay in the country for a specified period of time. It is issued for a specific purpose and for a limited duration, which may be extended in certain cases.

Schengen visa

A Schengen visa is a permit for short-term stay (up to 90 days) within any 180-day period in the Schengen Area, which includes most, but not all, European Union countries.

National Work Visas

National work visas (type D) allow a foreign national to stay in the territory of the Slovak Republic for longer than 90 days. They are usually issued for the purpose of employment and allow legal entry and stay for a specified period of time.

Visas for Travel Abroad

Visas for travel abroad are intended for individuals who plan to travel outside the territory of the Slovak Republic. They are issued for a predetermined period and are subject to the conditions of the specific country to which the applicant is traveling.

Schengen visa

A Schengen visa may be granted for one, two, or multiple entries, while the total length of stay in the Schengen Area must not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period.

This visa allows its holder to enter the territory of all member states of the Schengen Area. It is issued for purposes such as business trips, visits to relatives and friends, tourism, or other short-term stays.

Notice:

A Schengen visa does not entitle a foreign national to employment, business activities, or any other gainful activity.
It is not possible to apply for a temporary residence permit in Slovakia on the basis of a C visa.

National Work Visas

Under certain conditions, the employment of foreigners in Slovakia may take place under a simplified and faster procedure based on a National Work Visa Type D.

A national visa is issued in the form of a visa sticker that is placed in the passport of a third-country national.

It is granted for the duration of employment, but for a maximum period of one year. Reissuing a national visa is not possible, except for visas issued for relocated employees.

During the validity of the national visa, a third-country national may not be employed or have any other employment relationship with another employer or work in a different job than the one for which the national visa was granted.
